BIOGRAPHY
Kyriz Boogiemen a.k.a. Pradana Rizky was born in May 4th 1985. Grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia then moved to New York in 1994 where he first discovered Michael Jackson and Bob Marley as a big influence to his musicality. Spending most of his childhood abroad opened his eyes and ears to a specific genre which he grew loving, Hip-Hop. Russell Sage Junior High School is where his environment introduced him to Rap and Hip-Hop music with The Legendary Roots Crew and A Tribe Called Quest as his main influences. Kyriz moved back to Indonesia and kept pursuing music as his calling. It all started with his brief meeting with Widi Puradiredja, the drummer from Indonesian famous band Maliq & D’essentials through Ifa Fachir as his mutual friend back in the states. Kyriz was offered to spit a verse in Maliq & D’essentials’ ‘Funk Flow’, one of the tracks in their second album ‘Free Ur Mind’, and got him to tag along with the band’s tour in 2006. Kyriz formed Boogiemen along with two of his crews to record their debut album ‘Nu Son To Shine’ released in October 2010. Aside from promoting the group’s single that was written by him ‘Last Call’, Kyriz has been featured with so many artists in varieties of local events and international festival. He is well known for his way with words and the versatility to blend with an artist in a track that he has been given neither without hiding nor over shadow-ing the other element in the music itself. With so many MCs nowadays, he is one of a few artist who stays with his genre for quite some time. Dira Sugandi, the Indonesian songbird, has Kyriz to join her in many performances. The pair started in Urban Jazz Crossover to cover ‘American Boy’ by Estelle and Kanye West and has been repeating the repertoire in a various events ever since. Kyriz jumped from one live show to another and tv performance in between. He is also a regular MC for the monthly event Rewind N Play along with DJ Cream and the other Soul Menace crew. Collaborating with Indonesian’s Jazz Godfather Indra Lesmana is the latest in his resume as LLW (Lesmana Likumahua Winartha). ‘Stretch N Pause’ was featured in LLW’s first album as a lesson for Indonesian jazz music history. The track was written by Kyriz and performed by him also in a live recording studio. With so many talent in hand, Kyriz is up for any music challenge that could possibly be.
